Craft Night

My niece, Chelsea, wants to learn to quilt. Last night we made pincushions to give her a tiny taste of quilting. She really liked it.

We used this pattern and step by step instructions for an easy project. I am so intriqued by the cool pincushions that are available in fruit (love this pear by Heather Bailey) shapes and flowers like these available for sale on Etsy.
*
I have never been a fan of sewing mainly because I spent so much time ripping out seams and sleeves when I was a teen trying to learn to sew. I actually made a few outfits but decided quickly that I was the perfect sale rack buyer rather than seamstress. My sewing has been mostly home dec projects of the easy schmeasy type.

Pretty sure quilting is NOT in my future. Love the fabrics though!

Sandi,
Fabulous pin cushion and great choice of fabrics. Sewing and quilting are two very different things...keep that in mind! BTW, your friend from VA does not have a decent pincushion...if you should decide to make more, that is!

I want to learn to sew also, it seems to me to be something I can do...my grandmother loved it, my aunt loved it...I actually thought I would try to learn to quilt after we build the log cabin!
