Wow - how disappointing can a movie be?!
Mamma Mia was a huge mess. And whoever told Pierce Brosnan that he could do this movie despite the fact that he can't sing a note was wrong and should be immediately fired. And Meryl (59)- despite a valiant effort is about 15 years too old for the part of mom/Donna to a 20 year old daughter conceived during her carefree youth (at 39?).
The scenery was gorgeous but it was so often filled with 60 cast members dancing and singing in a nonsensical "everybody join in" scene filler. The story was nearly lost in the slapstick humor. You lost the story of mother and daughter, the story of Mom and her lost love, and the friendship of three old friends that had been thru a lifetime of happenings together. But silly? We got plenty of that.
Can Hollywood make a good movie anymore? It is not like I was looking forward to this or anything.

I'm sorry it sucked! I know you were totally looking forward to it. I hate when that happens. I felt the same way about M. Night Shyamalan's new movie "The Happening"--Boring, bad acting, no plot, bad ending!
