More Economic News

The Energy Department, in a monthly report, indicated that high prices are cutting oil consumption more than expected in the industrialized world. Consumption is now expected to fall by 240,000 barrels a day in 2008; last month, the department forecast consumption would be unchanged from 2007 levels.AOL Money and Finance

If you are here for art and scrapping, I promise that I will eventually get back to it. Art, and its different mediums, is just too big a passion to not BUT also I have another interest. It is called filling the tank AND the table.

Frankly, it is getting harder and harder to do. The rising prices are concerning but what is even more concerning is the above statement. The Energy Dept forecasted (last month) that we Americans would just sit back and stupidly absorb all of these rising costs and not notice cos we were all on baby watch for Angelina's twins.

That makes me want to double up on my blood pressure meds. I can tell you that we Keenes are cutting, cutting, cutting. And while it is definitely caused by the huge increases at the pump and the grocery check out BUT some of it is plain and simple F*^% YOU.

It really makes me angry to think that the Powers That Be in this game of Let's See How Far We Can Push These People Before They Wise Up and Revolt think we are completely brain dead. We are just going to sit back and watch our futures, our savings and our children's future go up in smoke and not complain or fight back.

I am fighting back. I am going to buy as little gas as I possibly can because I want the oil tankers to back up in a huge line all the way to the Middle East and South America. I want the tankers' captains to yell to each other - "hey, why aren't we moving - can you see what is going on up there?" "I heard that the Americans aren't buying gas anymore. They say they have Had Enough - nobody predicted THIS reaction".

I will sit at home with my car in the garage and play board games because there is nothing better than a rousing game of "I ain't taking it anymore" and "How Long Can I Make a Tank Last".

Oh yeah, and scrapbook cos I can last about 10 years with only an occasional adhesive purchase. I got stuff.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Your blog! I am totally with you in the "Oh yeah, and scrapbook cos I can last about 10 years with only an occasional adhesive purchase. I got stuff." comment...its what I'm going to do for entertainment while I'm NOT driving! Gas is over $4.30 here, and $4.89 where my mom lives...we have to show them some way...
