Small, Silly Things

We saw Ironman on Saturday. I did not expect to like it but I did. The whole reason this movie worked for me was Robert Downey Jr. He was really good in the role. This movie is dark in spots and even includes some offscreen torture so be warned.

As saw PS, I Love You. I liked that as well. I was worried that it was going to be goofy from the scenes on the trailer but it was much smarter than I expected. Good rental.

So today I went grocery shopping with Steff at WalMart. I have a hate-hate relationship with WalMart. I try to shop at Target as much as I can. Sometimes the list calls for a run to WalMart when you have a lot of non food items and that was the case for Steff. So off we went - picture me dragging my feet and whining.

I got my stuff and then went to the register. There was a young girl named Kayla, at the register who started my groceries while I was unloading them. She was 2/3 thru my order when I got the cart up to the turntable of bags. I looked and my groceries were packed into these perfectly rectangular blocks of food. In plastic bags! That, my friends, is nearly impossible to do. She tucked my candy bar into the middle of a dairy bag so it would not melt in the FL heat. My bags were not only beautifully packed like a 3-D puzzle but they were sorted and categorized with the efficiency and speed of a computer. It was AMAZING.

My anal little heart was in heaven. Kayla and I had a conversation about her extraordinary spatial intelligence and how she rocks at Tetris, Legos and can organize a closet like nobody's business. My guess is that she is still in high school cos that is the only reason I can figure that she is working at Walmart. I am hoping she is off to MIT or NASA when she gets her diploma.

I waded thru the Walmart website and found the link to email a store (like a treasure hunt!) and raved about Kayla's skill and sunny personality. I hope that she hears about my compliments cos she deserves it. She totally made my day. Silly but true.

Plus... cuuute men. Doesn't hurt... She did better than I thought... Hmm.

And... an amazing bagger? Is that POSSIBLE? :) Last week I left Whole Foods with some freakishly overpriced, squished from the milk bread...

Funny how the little things really make/break the day.
