I was reading my daily blogs yesterday - I know - shocking - when I found Ali's new post. (Bobbie - read this and think about the fabulous photos you have been posting and the stories that you have to tell that are SO important) It was very thought provoking about a reorganization of her scrapbooking layouts and a chance to look at her work as a whole. That is when she took stock of what might be missing. I realized that was a really good idea and I should take a look myself.
If I had to pick one thing that is missing from my albums is the behind the scenes stories. We have stories galore of the times that made us fall over laughing or how a "Keeneism" came to be. They are really important stories in showing who we are and how we live. Not including them is a huge gaping hole that needs to be filled. We are a family that loves to laugh and goof around. We have our own vocabulary and jargon. It needs to be documented or we will forget how it all started. And this is important to me. Frankly, to me, it is more important than geneology or major accomplishments. It is us - the human elements that makes us unique - and silly and goofy and just plain having a wonderful time together. It needs to be part of the story because there is NOT an event that goes by that doesn't include hilarity and possible peeing of pants from snorting good laughs. Hey, it is who we are.
So that is how this came to be. Steff was looking at the new pages of my acrylic album and said HEY - where is the story of the red beads? She was right. Where was that story? How could I just leave it out? So I created this page for the album and Steff is going to be the guest journalist for this page. She is going to tell the story of how I snagged the red beads at a thrift store right from under her nose in a balletic series of motions that gave her no chance to even see them. I have been teased alot about this so it is relevant and important. Now thanks to Steff and Ali, it will be included in the album.
I will be looking at the album with new eyes. What is missing?
When Steff and I scrap during the day with the windows open (it is glorious here now - high in the low 70's with a cool breeze), Lexi sits at the open window enjoying the fresh breeze blowing. She will sometimes work that long muzzle of hers in between the slats in the shutters and get even closer to the source of the banquet of smells.
She looked so cute sitting there with her little feathery hairs blowing in the breeze and her nose sniffing intently at the air. She was focused solely on what she was doing and we did not exist.
I gave this tote to Cassie when she was home in January. I did not picture it as a cat carrier - but her boyfriend's cat seems to like it just fine.
Today Steff and I are off to a photography exhibition and lunch out at Chili's. There is a server there that knows us now and takes such good care of us. She brings us a BOWL of limes for our cokes. Sweet! We tip her very well. It is a win-win situation.
EDIT: looks like I am not the only one who was thinking the exact same thing
