***CAMPAIGN 93***

As most of you know, this is my dear friend, Joan Hess who died in March. I am so grateful to have known her. She was a light in all lives she touched. My sadness over her loss is because she was so much in my life and I miss her every day. Mostly, I remember how much FUN she was with a smile that would light up a room. Everybody wanted to know her.
This past week was her mother's NINETY THIRD birthday. Elizabeth is as vital and sharp as I was 10 years ago. She misses her daughter so much but remains as positive as she is capable. She is a remarkable woman and raised the above pictured angel.
Elizabeth lived with Joan and Herm. Joan and Elizabeth were very close. They had nightly rituals of calling "Goodnight Irene" down the hall to each other. Joan kept Elizabeth stocked with jigsaw puzzles which Elizabeth loves to do because she wants her brain to stay sharp. I am clearly not doing enough puzzles! She has a great sense of humor and loves to laugh. Elizabeth made Joan laugh and sometimes told her things that only your mother can. They were a great team.
You can imagine how hard it is to celebrate your 93rd birthday without your only child. She has outlived so many of her family members. Her granddaughter, Barbara, is doing the best she can to be family to her but she is only ONE person.
I want Elizabeth to get 93 cards for her birthday. I am asking anyone who reads my blog to join in my campaign and PLEASE send this lovely, funny lady a birthday card. I can't post her address here but if you will email me or leave a comment I will send you her address. Then - pass it on. Tell a friend, your Sunday School class, your book club, your mom, your daughter - anybody - to do the same.
Pass it forward. Make her day and maybe make your own at the same time. Let's see how far we can make this go. I will leave this up for a week to remind you and get as many people to see it as possible. Everybody counts - it is not like a ton of people read my blog. Every person is needed to make this work. We can do this!!!
THANK YOU! And let me know when you need a hand with a random act of kindness. I am So There!
********************************************************************************
We are at 115! We did it! THANK YOU!!!
I am overwhelmed with the goodness of people's hearts!
***I have been asked what kind of card she would like. She has a wicked sense of humor and would enjoy a funny card. Don't think 93 - think funny, wonderful friend who loves a good laugh. ***

I sent this to several of my friends and so far have had five affirmative responses.

What a cool idea!

I was sent this message by Joe Keene. What a great Idea, I'm passing it on to everyone on my email list. My grandma is 85 and as sharp as a whip, I instantly thought of her when I read your story. I think I'm going to call grandma tonight just to say hello. Thanks for reminding me how precious family is to us all!
